Balenciaga Museum grand opening

7th June is a special day for the Spanish city of Getaria. It sees the opening of a museum of one of the most acknowledged fashion designers of the 20th century, Cristobal Balenciaga.

The house in which the museum is based has historical links to the Fashion Master: it used to be home to the Casa Torres family, the one that used to order clothes to be sewn by Cristobal Balenciaga’s mother.

The newly opened museum features the largest in the world collection of Balenciaga’s works. Some of them were donated by his fans and followers. The process of exhibit selection was quite thorough, and most of them are scarcely touched by time.
